The Resistance
‘The Resistance by Gemma Malley is another well-written dystopian thriller tackling the price of longevity – but only if parents are prepared to let their children die instead Peter and Anna, first encountered in The Declaration, are now legal but continue to fight against adult authority as members of the resistance, infiltrating Peter’s grandfather’s corporation. There is a dramatic and heartfelt plea for “a real life, full of moments of joy, of anguish, of irritation, of fun”, which is well worth disaffected teenagers of 12+ reading.’ The Times
‘A powerful, absolutely chilling sequel to Gemma Malley’s acclaimed debut, The Declaration. With a dark and sinister vision of the future, it is set in 2140, The Resistance is an incredibly thought-provoking read. We raved about her first novel and this one is once again beautifully written, tightly plotted, utterly compelling and completely impossible to put down.’ Lovereading.co.uk
‘What I liked about The Resistance is that most of the old characters were in it, as well as a few new ones, which made it quicker to get into if you’ve already read The Declaration because you already knew most of the characters. So the author didn’t take long describing and introducing each character because she assumed you had already read the other book. The book was also full of surprising twists… I would recommend it for people 12+ who have already read the first book. Overall, it was a BRILLIANT book and I rate it 5/5.’ Amber, aged 11, Chicklish Reviews
‘It’s an intelligent book, but accessible to every reader. Great stuff.’ thebookbag.co.uk
